The Cuban Missile Crisis and Missiles of Korea to United States

In the subject of History we have been talking about the Cuban Missiles Crisis in 1959. Nowadays, this continue happening but in others countries. In this essay I will talk about the missiles that threw Korea to the United States in 2017.

In 1959 Fidel Castro started a new pro-Communist state in what it regarded as its own ‘sphere of influence’. Castro appropriated American-owned businesses in Cuba. In 1960, Cuba received arms from the Soviet Union and the American spies knew that. Castro thought that United States wanted to invade the island, so in 1961, president Kennedy supplied arms, equipment and transport for anti-Castro exiles. They were met by 20000 Cuban troops armed with modern weapons. Castro’s troops killed them. In 1962 Cuba has the best army in Latin America, with many Soviet missiles, plus patrol boats, tanks, radar vans, missile erectors, jet bombers, jet fighters and 5000 Soviet technicians to help to maintain the weapons. The Americans watched all this like a big threat. Kennedy’s own intelligence department didn’t believe the USSR would send nuclear weapons to Cuba. In September, Kennedy though that Cuba was becoming an offensive military base. In 1962, U-2 spy plane flew over Cuba taken detailed photographs. Experts though were nuclear missiles sites. In October Kennedy decided a blockade of Cuba.

On February 12, 2017, South Korea reported that North Korea launched missiles as a challenge. Donald Trump recently assumed, I believe that North Korea declared its final stage in the development of nuclear weapons, capable of reaching the United States. Trump also lashed out at China for supporting North Korea, as the United States economy was affected. For decades, joint military exercises between South Korea and the United States generated discomfort in North Korea. North Korea has launched a ballistic missile as a challenge to the US government, according to intelligence services the missile could travel more than 2000km. The day after the launch, United Nations unanimously condemned the launch, denouncing the breach of 6 of its resolutions and warned about its readiness to adopt these significant against North Korea. Currently between both nations are publicly threatened. The United States is frightened by North Korea's nuclear weapons and believes that it should be curtailed or punished. North Korea states that its nuclear development is based purely and exclusively on the defense of its nation and not as part of an invasion project. The world is looking forward to how this tension between the two nations will evolve as it could trigger a nuclear war.

To conclude I can say that, both missiles brought many problems for both countries, one because they wanted to avenge the other country and the other because they was worried about attacking. As happened with Korea and the United States. Both have a leader. Also in both cases we are talking about of nuclear missiles and a possibility to finish in a war between both countries or more. In relation to the case of 2017 United States requests intervention to the UN (united nations), but in the case of 1959 does not ask intervention to anybody. Another difference is the distance between the countries involved. In 1959 united states feared logically by the proximity to Cuba and nowadays, the conflict is a thousands of kilometers ago. In my opinion the problem is the fear of United States to a possible attack. And I think that the new president of United Stated is very proud and he feels very powerful.

How important were republican reactions in the Wall Street Crash as causes of Roosevelt´s success in the presidential election of 1932?

In 1932 elections were done in the USA, the republican candidate was Hoover and the democrat candidate was Roosevelt, and he won. He was the first democratic president in the USA. The main factor that made Roosevelt won the election was his campaign and the reactions of republicans to the Wall Street Crash.

In his campaign he showed he is an active president, and he believed that to improve the economic problem this was what the country needed. He promised getting Americans back to work, protecting their savings and their properties, providing relief for the sick, old and unemployed, getting Americans industry and agriculture back to their feet and the most important, he promised a new deal. He won the elections with a big difference and a new and different government began.

On the other hand some people believe that the main factor of Roosevelt victory was because the Crash of the Wall Street, on part it was his fault. Hoover was called as a `Do nothing president´, and maybe this is true, due to the fact that the republicans belief was not to interfere in people like. As we know the Wall Street crash was the main cause of the depression. However republicans said that depression was fault of the Problem economic in Europe. Furthermore Hoover, with his republican’s beliefs, did not interfere in people problems. So people really refuse on this and the idea of him as a `Do nothing president´ was increasing. Because of this at time to vote they prefer Roosevelt.
On balance, we could see how important his attitude was over the Wall Street Crash. However his strong and important campaign help Roosevelt to. In my opinion both are important and without them, it would be more difficult for Roosevelt to won.

How important were credit and hire purchase as reasons for economic growth in the USA in the 1920's

During the 1920's USA was in a boom. The country was growing very fast, also the technology. This was a very big econimic growth. One of the cause were credit and hire purchase, the importantece of this cause is still being debated.

On one hand the people could buy things and pay them later. By this way people bought things. For example this helped to increased the demand of radios in the lower classes. It also helped to sell more cars. This helped the economy because people bougth things only from their country. Also they had to put the 10 per cent of the cash needed to buy shares and could borrow the rest, so they had more money to invest on the companies. Futhermore the speculators pay only a part of the shares and then when they get the profit they pay the rest and in that way they were getting rich.

On the other hand the Republican goverment maintein taxes low, so people spend more money, this action was called laissez-faire. Peopple with low economy can not bought a radio or a car, so they asked banks to give them credits. By this way economy growth because they can bought products. While the overproduction was facid and economic problem. Despite the credits helped to increased the production, people had what they wanted, due to the mass marketing and the propaganda, so they did not wanted to buy more things.

The electrification allowed industries to developed betters products, like vaccum cleaners, cars and radios, this things need petrol to make plastics, this was not important for credits
and hire purchase for economic growth. Other reason for the economic growth was the first world was, Europe was poor so they can not competed with USA. USA have raw material so they do not need things from others countries. USA have a good industries.

Finally credi and hire purchase were an important cause of the economic growth in the 1920's, but there were others importanted causes, such as Republicans polices, mass-marketing, mass production, the investion of plastic, the electrification and the markets gained during the first war world.
